NOTTINGHAM, England (AP) - Former Premier League player Marlon King has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for dangerous driving after causing a three-car pileup on a motorway while eating an ice cream at the wheel.

King was also handed a three-year driving ban when he attended Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday. The incident took place last April and he had already pleaded guilty to the charge.

Sentencing King, judge Paul Mann says “I do not regard your case as merely impulsive or silly behavior. It was aggressive. It was arrogant.”

The 34-year-old King played for Watford, Wigan, Hull and Middlesbrough in the Premier League. He played international football for Jamaica.

King is currently without a club after being released by Sheffield United last year.
