MOENCHENGLADBACH, Germany (AP) - Venezuela star Juan Arango is leaving Borussia Moenchengladbach after five years.

The Bundesliga club says Arango turned down Moenchengladbach’s contract extension offer. The cub reportedly offered a one year extension at a reduced wage while Arango wanted another two years. Arango turns 34 this week.

Sporting director Max Eberle says the player’s expectations and the club’s ideas were “incompatible.”

Arango scored 25 goals in 155 matches for Moenchengladbach, which qualified for the Europa League this season. His left foot was one of the most feared weapons in the Bundesliga, especially from set pieces.
