ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Central Florida will soon be a new home for American tennis.
United States Tennis Association announced Wednesday that it plans to create a new, state-of-the-art facility in Lake Nona in Orlando that will feature a 100-plus court tennis center to house the USTA’s Community Tennis and Player Development Divisions.
Once complete, University of Central Florida’s tennis program will also call the new facility home. In addition, the USTA’s player development division will move its national headquarters from its current location in Boca Raton to Orlando.
USTA hopes to open the center by the fourth quarter of 2016. The expansion is expected to create 154 new jobs.
The center will host everything from youth events to national championships for players ages 90 and over.
