SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - University of Illinois trustees and other university leaders plan to lobby on behalf of the university at the State Capitol.
The university announced its annual Day at the Capitol will take place Wednesday. University President Robert Easter will be part of that effort along with other administrators and alumni.
The university regularly presses lawmakers about its budget, state appropriations and other subjects such as public-pension cuts. While the university relies on public funds, the state’s share of its budget has dropped over the years to less than 20 percent.
University officials will head to the Capitol after will follow a university trustees meeting in Springfield.
