Sen. Ted Cruz turned to Hollywood mega-star Jack Nicholson and his famous one-liner from “A Few Good Men” to make a harsh point about Democrats — that they don’t seem to be able to handle the truth when it comes to Benghazi.

“The response of the administration, and sadly the response of Senate Democrats, has been partisan stonewalling, rather than trying to get to the truth,” Mr. Cruz said during a floor debate with Sen. Robert Menendez from New Jersey about the ongoing Republican-driven mission to root out the specifics of the 2012 attack on the U.S. facility in Benghazi, Libya, that left four Americans dead.

Mr. Cruz continued: “In the immortal lines of Jack Nicholson, it makes one think perhaps they can’t handle the truth.”

The tough-talking senator from Texas said the Senate ought to easily pass a measure that would unite that body of Congress with the House to form a select committee to investigate the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attack in Benghazi. But instead Democrats are balking, and that’s a head-scratcher, he said.

“This body should join with the House of Representatives with a joint select committee to get to the bottom of what happened, why we didn’t protect Americans, why we didn’t stop this attack and why we haven’t captured the terrorists who killed four Americans, including our ambassador,” Mr. Cruz said, on the floor.

Mr. Menendez ended up blocking Mr. Cruz’s measure, calling it a “political trick” that the GOP was using to “fire up their base,” Breitbart reported.
