KETCHIKAN, Alaska (AP) - A man who has photographed nearly every Independence Day Parade in Ketchikan for the last three decades won’t have to run along the parade route this year.

Instead, Hall Anderson will have a prime seat.

The Ketchikan Daily News reports (https://is.gd/I3pg3S) Anderson will be the grand marshal for this year’s parade.

Anderson will be retiring from the Ketchikan Daily News, where he’s been the photographer for nearly 30 years.

He says he was surprised by the honor, and hasn’t decided yet whether to carry a camera with him that day.

The chamber’s business manager, Chelsea Goucher, says Anderson was nominated by about 10 different people to be grand marshal.

The theme this year will be “A Moment in Time: Snapshots of Ketchikan’s Past.” The parade starts at noon, July 4.
