BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee Martin guard Heather Butler has been voted the Ohio Valley Conference’s female athlete of the year for 2013-14.

The league announced the honor Wednesday as voted by OVC athletic directors and sports information directors. She will receive her award May 30 in Nashville.

Butler, currently with the WNBA’s San Antonio Stars, set the OVC’s career scoring record with 2,865 points. That ranks 16th in NCAA women’s basketball history. The OVC player of the year helped the Skyhawks win a school-record 24 games along with a fourth straight OVC tournament championship and NCAA tournament berth.

She averaged 23.6 points a game as a senior. She also scored double figures in all 129 career games, the second-longest streak in NCAA history. Her career 392 made 3-pointers tied the NCAA record.
