CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Gov. Maggie Hassan has signed into a law a measure naming a scenic overlook of Mount Washington and an Interstate 93 welcome center after longtime Executive Councilor Ray Burton, who died in November.

The overlook is on Route 302 across the entrance to the Mount Washington Hotel. A ceremony dedicating the site to Burton was held shortly before Burton died after 40 years of public service.

The bill also names the welcome center on the northbound side of Interstate 93 the Raymond S. Burton Visitor Center.

Hassan said Wednesday by formally naming the locations in his honor, “we will help ensure that Ray Burton will continue to watch over the state that he loved so dearly.”
