EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A state Department of Justice spokeswoman says a former Eugene police officer is being investigated for Internet child crimes.

The Eugene Register-Guard reports (https://bit.ly/1srQhhr ) Tuesday that Jeffrey Wade Argo resigned from the department last month, citing personal reasons.

Department of Justice spokeswoman Kristina Edmunson confirmed the investigation but did not provide details.

Eugene police spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin says Argo was an officer assigned to the Eugene department’s patrol division. He was hired in 2012.
