CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A jury of five men and six women took less than two hours Wednesday to convict Zacharia Johnson of attempted first-degree murder.
Johnson was found guilty of aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and conspiracy in the stabbing Robert Masterson multiple times in March 2013. Masterson was 60 at the time and a police report said he suffered serious injuries in the attack.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://tinyurl.com/ko2vhzz) accomplice Robert Simmons pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and aggravated burglary and has gone to prison.
Police said Johnson and Simmons had a neighbor knock on Masterson’s door so they could get into his home. Police said Johnson then attacked Masterson.
Johnson’s attorneys argued there was insufficient evidence. Johnson could be sentenced to life in prison.
