LAWNDALE, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California school district board has revoked paid leave for its superintendent amid investigations into his outsized compensation.
The Daily Breeze reports (https://bit.ly/1sOtxdi) the Centinela Valley Union High School District board voted unanimously Tuesday to change to unpaid the employment status of Jose Fernandez.
Fernandez has come under fire for drawing a total compensation package ranging from $663,000 to $750,000 in 2013.
In addition to the internal audit being conducted by a district-hired company, Fernandez’s pay package is under review by the FBI, the Los Angeles County Office of Education and the district attorney’s office.
Fernandez has declined to comment on any of the board maneuvers since he was placed on leave April 9.
