YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - The Yankton City Commission has approved a contract with the city’s employee union that includes a pay increase and an additional paid holiday.
The Daily Press & Dakotan newspaper reports (https://bit.ly/1nIDJ4Q ) that the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3968 agreed to the contract last week.
The city declared an impasse in negotiations in March. A mediator worked with the parties for several hours earlier this month to craft a contract acceptable to both sides.
The previous agreement expired in December, and the new contract is retroactive to Jan. 1.
