DALLAS (AP) - Street flooding has been reported in the Houston and San Antonio areas where storms have left thousands of homes and businesses without electricity.

A flash flood watch Tuesday for far South Texas was canceled as forecasters reported the heaviest expected rainfall had shifted offshore.

CenterPoint Energy had about 2,800 power outages Tuesday afternoon as crews worked to restore power following rain that slowed Houston-area traffic. CPS Energy reported about 3,200 homes and businesses without power mainly in the San Antonio area.

Dallas-based Oncor (ON’-kor) reported about 3,500 customers without electricity from storms that began Monday night and lingered into Tuesday.

Two Fort Worth firefighters were seriously hurt Monday when they were in an attic and the floor collapsed during a blaze at a house that was struck by lightning.
