GOEHNER, Neb. (AP) - Residents of two Nebraska towns that were hard hit by last weekend’s storms must drive to neighboring towns to vote in the primary election.
The polling places for Beaver Crossing and Cordova were moved to neighboring towns, and election officials put up signs at the entrance to both towns letting them know.
The Lincoln Journal Star reports (https://bit.ly/1hKjteg ) polling workers in Goehner were passing the time between voters by comparing pictures of the storm damage their homes received.
Nearly every building in Beaver Crossing sustained damage Sunday, so many residents may have decided to continue cleaning up debris instead of voting.
But by 11 a.m. there had already been 21 ballots cast by Beaver Crossing voters. The precinct has 300 registered voters.
