The satanists have left the room, it seems. A black mass planned by a group of satanists for Harvard University drew enough outrage and condemnation — reaching even the critical ears of the Catholic Church — that the event was moved to an off-campus location.
It’s believed that the mass was then held at a Chinese restaurant down the road from Harvard, the Boston Globe reported.
The Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club dropped sponsorship of the mass, after the university president and the Archdiocese of Boston issued scathing criticisms. Specifically, Harvard President Drew Faust called the mass “flagrantly disrespectful and inflammatory,” while the archdiocese said the event makes a mockery of the Catholic Mass, The Associated Press reported.
The club then reported the event was outright canceled on the campus and that Satanic Temple members would have to find an off-campus location to host the mass.
The Boston Globe reported that the satanists gathered at Hong Kong Lounge in Harvard’s Square shortly before midnight on Monday.
Meanwhile, Satanic Temple spokesman Lucien Greaves — not his real name — sent out an email at 10:35 p.m. that the black mass was “happening now” at the lounge. A lounge worker confirmed that temple members were drinking inside the establishment, but they didn’t seem to be performing any ritual-type ceremonies, The Boston Globe reported.
