ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Officials plan to buy new fans to help keep the air clean in the Atlantic City tunnel.

The tunnel links the Atlantic City Expressway with Marina District casinos.

South Jersey Transportation Authority spokesman Kevin Rehmann tells The Press of Atlantic City (https://bit.ly/1mRbaW8 ) the agency plans to buy three to five fans to replace ones dating to the tunnel’s construction in 2001.

Rehmann says corrosion is an ongoing problem.

Electronic sensors activate the fans when exhaust fumes build up.
