ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say an eight-hour standoff at a southwest Atlanta hotel has come to a close with the arrests of two people.

DeKalb County Police Chief Cedric Alexander said a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were taken into custody late Monday after officers burst into the Travel Inn on Forrest Hills Drive.

U.S. Marshals spokesman Gavin Duffy told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://bit.ly/1mkVYh9 ) that marshals were trying to arrest at least one person at the hotel on Monday when at least two people barricaded themselves inside a room.

The arrests came as DeKalb County police continue to investigate a series of crimes in the county just east of Atlanta. An Atlanta police SWAT team unit was called in to help negotiate with the suspects at the hotel.
