BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Five employees of southwestern Illinois’ St. Clair County have won a combined $665,000 settlement involving alleged harassment by the former county clerk.
The Belleville News-Democrat (https://bit.ly/1lejiJy ) reports that the payouts ranging from $90,000 to $200,000 ensure the employees will not sue the county over alleged inappropriate behavior by Bob Delaney.
Delaney resigned last June after an employee accused him of discrimination, sexual harassment and wrongful termination.
Fifty-five-year-old Delaney has denied wrongdoing. Calls by The Associated Press to Delaney’s home went unanswered Tuesday.
No lawsuit or charges have been filed over the allegations.
As part of the settlement reached in December, the county denies any wrongdoing.
The county initially refused to release the settlement details to the newspaper, but Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan ordered the county to disclose the details.
