Outspoken actor Alec Baldwin took to Twitter for an airing of grievances following his arrest by the NYPD for biking the wrong way down a Manhattan street — and then reportedly mouthing off to officers.

“Officer Moreno, badge number 23388, arrested me and handcuffed me for going the wrong way on Fifth Ave,” he said at 9:29 a.m. ET. “Meanwhile, photographers outside my home ONCE AGAIN terrified my daughter and nearly hit her with a camera. The police did nothing.

“New York City is a mismanaged carnival of stupidity that is desperate for revenue and anxious to criminalize behavior once thought benign,” he added.

EARLIER: Alec Baldwin was arrested in New York on Tuesday after he was caught riding his bicycle in the wrong direction on a busy Manhattan street.

InTouch Weekly magazine broke the story, with a photo showing Mr. Baldwin being handcuffed by an NYPD police officer on Fifth Avenue.

“Alec was riding his bicycle the wrong way on Fifth Avenue this morning and, when he was stopped by police, he didn’t have ID so he was handcuffed and arrested,” a source told the New York Post. “It is not known where he is now, or if he is still in police custody.”

An eyewitness told InTouch that the actor was “calm and quiet” during the arrest, while another said he “went ballistic on the cops, screaming at them.”

Mr. Baldwin was taken to a police precinct where he was issued summonses for riding the wrong way and for disorderly conduct, sources told CBS New York.
