POLICE WANT TO SPEAK WITH WOMAN WHO SAYS MIAMI POLICE OFFICER FOUND DEAD IN HIS HOME SHOT HIMSELF DURING A STRUGGLE

No arrests have been made in the death of Carl Ronaldo Patrick, whose body was found Friday in his Pembroke Pines home. Police have said they are investigating his death as a homicide. Tiniko Thompson told WTVJ-TV that her boyfriend’s death was accidental. Thompson said she was struggling with Patrick for his weapon Wednesday morning when he slipped and the gun fired. Pembroke Pines Police issued a statement late Monday saying they want to speak with Thompson.

GOV. SCOTT AND CABINET ASKED TO APPROVE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT FOR SOUTH FLORIDA

Gov. Rick Scott and Cabinet officials will decide whether Florida Power & Light should be allowed to add two nuclear generators at its existing Turkey Point facility near Homestead. The project would add approximately 2,200 megawatts of power or enough for an estimated 750,000 homes. The state’s largest utility is also asking for approval of nearly 90 miles of new power lines to carry electricity from the plant.

Health officials have confirmed a second U.S. case of a mysterious virus that has sickened hundreds in the Middle East. The latest case is a resident of Saudi Arabia who was visiting Florida and now is in an Orlando hospital.

Campaign reports filed Monday show former Gov. Charlie Crist raised more than $2.2 million in April for his campaign and a related political committee. Republican incumbent Scott raised more than $1.3 million during the month for his campaign and political committee.

TRIAL CONTINUES FOR TAMPA WOMAN WHO FATALLY SHOT HER TWO TEENAGERS

Hillsborough County prosecutor says that one of the reasons Julie Schenecker might have fatally shot her teenagers is because she was upset with her husband. On Monday, a psychiatrist who evaluated Schenecker testified that Schenecker was angry at her husband, but also thought he was a “great guy.” The doctor said the 53-year-old military mom gave contradictory feelings and statements because of her bipolar disorder with psychotic features.
