ALVA, Okla. (AP) - The second phase of a three-phase project to convert the Alva Armory Building into an athletic training facility for Northwestern Oklahoma State University is complete.

The university says a new weight room has been added to the facility. The first phase of the project included new locker rooms for Northwestern’s softball and women’s soccer teams, dressing rooms for game officials and a laundry room.

The third phase will convert the 5,000-square-foot drill floor into a multi-purpose area with indoor batting cages.

The armory was built in 1936 as a military training facility and was given to the university after being decommissioned in 2011.
