INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A polluted site in the northern Indiana city of Elkhart has been added to the federal government’s Superfund priority cleanup list.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency added Elkhart’s North Shore Drive area to its priority cleanup list last week. The EPA says the site was added because of a plume of pollution in the area’s groundwater.
That site was among several priority cleanup sites added by the EPA in 10 other states.
The listing means state and federal officials will investigate the source and extent of the contamination and propose a cleanup plan.
