ERIE, Pa. (AP) - Police had a driver in custody after his car allegedly struck an elderly couple crossing a street in northwestern Pennsylvania, killing a woman.

Erie County Deputy Coroner Dennis Suscheck says authorities expect to release the woman’s name after an autopsy Monday morning.

The 66-year-old Erie woman was struck shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday as she and a male companion were walking across the street. Suscheck says the man’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have yet to release the suspect’s name, but officers were seen handcuffing the man and giving him sobriety tests at the scene.
