JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Coast Guard officials have suspended their search for any possible passengers of a paddleboat found floating off Florida’s northeast coast.

The unmanned yellow boat was spotted Monday nearly 60 miles east of St. Augustine. A coast guard statement said the boat had marine growth and showed no signs of distress, and the search was called off. No one was found in the search area either.

Watchstanders at its Jacksonville command center had received a report from the cruise ship Carnival Fantasy earlier Monday morning about the empty paddleboat.

A helicopter crew from Air Station Savannah, Georgia, was dispatched a short time later along with members assigned to Coast Guard Station Mayport in Jacksonville, which launched a response boat.
