WASHINGTON (AP) - The Washington Post editorial board is endorsing Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown in Maryland’s Democratic primary race for governor as the best candidate to attract and retain jobs.

In an editorial Sunday, the Post editorial board (https://wapo.st/1g8YKpF ) writes that Brown is “a conscientious public servant with broad experience” as a lawyer, legislator and in the executive branch under Gov. Martin O’Malley.

The editorial notes much of Maryland’s electorate remains undecided in the June 24 primary. The winner is likely to become the next governor.

The editorial board writes that Brown is O’Malley’s “anointed successor.” It notes the administration’s failure in building an online marketplace for health care. But it also notes achievements for gays, immigrants and transportation.

The board says Brown is focused on job growth and expanding pre-kindergarten without over-promising.
