MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Investigators say a woman was killed when the car she was riding in struck a tree after the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

Middle Township police tell The Press of Atlantic City (https://bit.ly/1fZRUma) that the crash occurred around 7:20 a.m. Saturday on Route 47 northbound in the Cape May County community.

They say 19-year-old Raquel Cannon of Gloucester Township was killed instantly. The driver, 18-year-old Gloucester resident Lacey Marlow, was treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries.

No charges have been filed so far, but the investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Authorities say no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
