SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Mormon church is moving 67 missionaries out of Ukraine due to continuing unrest there.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints says the missionaries will be reassigned to missions within their home countries to complete the remainder of their service.

The church says 41 missionaries who anticipated serving in Ukraine have been reassigned to other missions.

Friday’s announcement is the latest move made by the Salt Lake City-based church due to unrest in Ukraine.

In April, 85 missionaries from the Ukraine Donetsk Mission were transferred to serve in other areas of Ukraine.

Church officials say the welfare of missionaries is always their first priority, and every effort is being made to keep them safe.
