ABERDEEN, Miss. (AP) - Sheriff’s deputies in Monroe County are planning a summer mentoring program for young people.
WTVA-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1kEf79o) the program will include exercise with the deputies, a K-9 demonstration and speakers from law enforcement agencies including the FBI, the Monroe County sheriff’s narcotics and investigative division.
Deputies say the sessions be held July 14-18 and are open to 12-18 year-olds who live in the county. All will be held at the Monroe County Detention Center.
Applications are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the sheriff’s office in Aberdeen and also can be obtained at Hamilton, Hatley and Smithville schools.
Deadline for applications is June 30.
