WASHINGTON (AP) - Rapper and music mogul Sean Combs is set to address graduates at one of the nation’s most prestigious historically black universities.
Combs will deliver the commencement address at Howard University on Saturday.
Combs attended Howard in the late 1980s but did not graduate. He’ll be among five people who receive honorary degrees as trailblazers in their fields.
University President Wayne Frederick says Combs’ entrepreneurial spirit was sparked at Howard, where he studied business. In the 1990s, Combs created his Puff Daddy persona and built his own business and brand, gaining fame as a producer and performer.
The university will also honor CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, transplant surgeon Clive Callender, jazz legend Benny Golson and PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi.
