CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago’s famous Buckingham Fountain is scheduled to be turned on for its 87th season.

Chicago Park District officials say the Grant Park fountain will operate daily beginning Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. through autumn.

Chicago high school senior Char’Nese Turner will turn on the fountain Saturday at 9 a.m. She’s the recipient of this year’s Chicago Park District Junior Citizen award.

The fountain was dedicated in 1927 as a gift to the people of Chicago from Miss Kate Buckingham. It is a memorial to her brother.
