ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Rams added secondary depth with the first of their two sixth-round picks in the NFL draft, taking Missouri cornerback E.J. Gaines with the 188th pick on Saturday.

They took SMU quarterback Garrett Gilbert with their second pick of the round, the 214th overall, and had four seventh-rounders remaining on the final day of the draft.

Gaines was first-team all-Southeastern Conference twice. As a senior, he was second in the SEC with five interceptions and second on the team with 75 tackles.

Gilbert is 6-foot-4 and 223 pounds and threw for 21 touchdowns in 10 games, missing the last two games with a knee injury. He accounted for seven touchdowns against Rutgers.

He worked out for the Rams last week.
