LOS ANGELES (AP) - Two Los Angeles merchants described as chronic counterfeiters have been fined more than $26 million and permanently barred from the downtown Fashion District.
The city attorney’s office announced Friday that a judge issued a permanent injunction against the men, who operated a now-defunct clothing store called T.J. Accessories.
Authorities say undercover investigators found more than 10,000 counterfeit items at the store. Prosecutors say the men also have five previous convictions for selling counterfeit goods.
In addition to receiving the largest counterfeiting fine in Los Angeles history, the men are banned from operating any business in California related to the manufacture, sale or storage of goods that are commonly counterfeited. Those include clothing, shoes, hats, bags, electronics, drugs and software.
