BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Two lawyers have been named finalists for a Bismarck-based judgeship.

South Central District Judge Donald Jorgensen plans to retire on July 3, well before the end of his term on Dec. 31.

Six attorneys applied to replace him. A Judicial Nominating Committee has named Steven Balaban of Bismarck and Brian Grosinger of Mandan as finalists.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple has about a month to pick one of the finalists, ask for another list or call for an election.
