SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A search is on for a missing 14-year-old Utah boy with autism who last was seen at This Is The Place Heritage Park near the University of Utah in northeast Salt Lake City.
Police say Steven Smith of Clearfield went missing as his family was unloading their vehicle at the historical park about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday.
Salt Lake Det. Greg Wilking says there were some preliminary sightings of the boy near the university’s research park.
Police say the boy has a mild form of autism and it’s possible he could try to avoid being found.
He’s described as 5-foot-5, about 120 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a grey “Star Wars” T-shirt, with dark grey, shiny pants.
