HELENA, Mont. (AP) - The deputy director of the Department of Labor and Industry has been named the executive director of the state agency that manages its public pension systems.
Lee Newspapers of Montana reports Dore Schwinden will take over on Monday as head of the Montana Public Employee Retirement Administration.
The MPER board announced the hiring Wednesday. Schwinden’s salary will be just over $109,000.
Schwinden succeeds Roxanne Minnehan, who agreed to retire as long as the state pays her pension and health insurance premiums through 2015. She is expected to step down next month.
Schwinden has served as deputy commissioner in the Labor Department since 2013 and also held the post from 2005-2010. He was director of the Commerce Department from 2010 to 2013.
His father, Ted Schwinden, was Montana’s governor from 1981-1988.
