CARBONDALE, Pa. (AP) - Police say a 4-year-old girl was seriously injured after falling from a third-floor window of an apartment in Carbondale.

The Times-Tribune of Scranton reported (https://bit.ly/1hXa1YO ) the child was hospitalized after the Wednesday afternoon incident.

Police tell the paper the building manager called 911 to report the fall, and they’re investigating how it occurred.

A prosecutor says the child’s mother could face charges.

The local child welfare agency also is looking into the matter.
