DETROIT (AP) - A 22-year-old Detroit man has been charged in a freeway crash last summer that killed a Grand Rapids-area man, his adult son and nephew.
The Wayne County prosecutor’s office says Michael A. Miller was expected to be arraigned Thursday afternoon on three counts of reckless driving causing death.
The charges carry a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
The victims were in a Toyota Corolla that was struck Aug. 18 by a Chevrolet Monte Carlo on the northbound Lodge Freeway, north of downtown Detroit.
Police say 68-year-old Brian Kelly, 31-year-old Daniel Kelly and 19-year-old Keeland Johns were pronounced dead at the scene. All were wearing seatbelts.
A fourth person in the Toyota was injured. The Monte Carlo’s driver wasn’t hurt.
