ROSELAND, N.J. (AP) - State police say a man was killed when his car burst into flames after striking a tree along an interstate highway in northern New Jersey.
It’s not yet clear what caused the crash, which occurred shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday in Roseland. The victim’s name was not released, and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
State police the man was alone in his car and driving westbound on Interstate 280 when he veered off the highway near milepost 3.8 and hit the tree. The car soon became fully engulfed in flames, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The accident caused some travel delays in the area while the crash was investigated.
