LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Tim Griffin says his vote against loan guarantees for Ukraine came as a surprise to him because he supports the measure.
Griffin was recorded as voting ’no’ on Thursday’s U.S. House resolution adding Ukraine to the list of countries eligible for loan guarantee assistance. Griffin told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/MX6Wv2 ) that he used his voting card to vote electronically and doesn’t know what went wrong.
Griffin says he supports the resolution and said America must do all it can both diplomatically and economically to support Ukraine in its current struggle with Russia.
Griffin submitted a clarification that was printed in the Congressional Record saying he intended to vote ’yes’ on the resolution. The clarification does not change the official vote.
The resolution was approved 385-23.
