CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Supreme Court wants lawyers to be more civil.

Justices have amended the oath new attorneys take when they are admitted to the state bar to include language about conducting themselves professionally in and out of the courtroom.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal (https://bit.ly/NHvRDG ) reports the new wording was contained in an order signed by the court Wednesday.

The new language states: “I will conduct myself in a civil and professional manner, whether dealing with clients, opposing parties and counsel, judicial officers or the general public, and will promote the administration of justice.”

It was requested by the state bar’s board of governors, which created a civility task force to address how to ensure lawyers show the proper decorum in their practice.
