PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - The City Council of Milton-Freewater voted to allow city workers who don’t have police powers to carry guns to work. But a small group of citizens have told city manager Linda Hall that they oppose the measure.

The East Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/O71MNO ) Hall said she met Monday with a group of four citizens who object to the new rule.

The council agreed to give the group some time at Monday’s city council meeting, but Hall says the council doesn’t plan to change the rule based on that testimony.

The city is one of several local jurisdictions across the nation that has allowed workers with the proper permits to be armed at work.

The revised policy only applies to employees who have concealed carry permits.
