NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire woman has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash.
Nashua police say 39-year-old Cara Smith turned herself in to detectives on Thursday after an arrest warrant was issued.
They say she was behind the wheel of an SUV that took off after hitting 63-year-old Robert Derome on Feb. 23 in Nashua. Derome was found on the side of the road. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say surveillance cameras captured a dark-colored SUV near the scene and an anonymous tip identified Smith as the possible driver.
The Nashua woman has been charged with conduct after an accident is being held on $50,000 cash bail. She’s scheduled to be arraigned on Friday. It’s unclear if she has an attorney.
