ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The Albuquerque district office of the Drug Enforcement Administration has a new assistant special agent in charge.

Sean R. Waite (WAIT) has been appointed to lead the New Mexico office, which is part of the El Paso Field Division.

The long-time DEA agent previous worked at the agency’s headquarters in Washington and in offices in Denver, Colombia and Chile.

He replaces Keith Brown, who left last year to become the special agent in charge of the DEA’s New Orleans field office.

The DEA’s El Paso Field Division has been active in New Mexico by going after synthetic drug trafficking organizations and various cartels who use the state’s isolated roads for trafficking routes.
