LAKE ARTHUR, La. (AP) - The Lake Arthur Board of Aldermen will consider pay raises for the next mayor and slate of aldermen after a public hearing to be held on April 2.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) the board introduced an ordinance Wednesday increasing the salaries of the mayor and aldermen nearly 85 percent effective with the next term of office, which begins January 2015.

The municipal elections for mayor and aldermen are set for Nov. 4, with qualifying beginning in August.

Under the proposal, the next mayor’s pay would go from $600 to $1,200 a month. Aldermen would see a $200-amonth increase, going from $200 to $400 a month and $200 for one special meeting per month.
