PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Marko Gujanicic’s 15 points Thursday night included the game-winning layup, and George Mason beat La Salle 59-57.

Sherrod Wright and Patrick Holloway scored 10 apiece, Erik Copes grabbed 10 rebounds and the Patriots (11-18, 4-11 Atlantic Ten) out-rebounded the Explorers 43-35.

Tyrone Garland scored seven points in La Salle’s (14-15, 6-9) opening 9-1 run, and the Explorers led 22-17 at 3:53 on free throws by Tyreek Duren. A 7-2 George Mason run tied it at 27, but Garland’s free throws made it 29-27 La Salle at halftime.

The Patriots opened the second with a 6-0 run, then pulled ahead on two 6-2 runs to lead 50-44 on a layup by Gujanicic. La Salle took a 57-56 lead on a layup by Garland with 44 seconds to play, but Gujanicic answered with a layup for the win.

Garland led La Salle with 16 points, Duren had 13, and Sam Mills 12.
