Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell pledged Thursday that “I won’t let you down” if Republicans take control after the fall elections and he becomes majority leader of the chamber.

“Never has it been so hard for the rich to become poor or the poor to become rich,” the Kentucky Republican said Thursday at the 2014 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). “This is our time to get it right. This is the moment. Let’s go out and do it.”

Mr. McConnell took a direct shot at members of the media in his address, dismissing them as “too busy trying to fix Benghazi for Hillary [Rodham Clinton] or play defense for Harry Reid’s latest smear campaign.”

Mr. McConnell slammed his Democratic counterpart in the Senate for saying recently that Obamacare “horror stories” that have been aired by conservative donors like the billionaire industrialist Koch brothers are “all untrue.”

“Can you believe this guy?” Mr. McConnell asked.

Mr. Reid, Nevada Democrat, dialed back his claim late Wednesday, but said he still thinks most of the negative anecdotes about the new health law are false.

“I can’t say that all of the Koch ads on Obamacare are deceptive, but the vast majority are,” he tweeted.
