SEATAC, Wash. (AP) - Port of Seattle police say a suburban Seattle man accused of threatening to blow himself up with a homemade bomb at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport later told them he was desperate and wanted to go to federal prison.

The Seattle Times reports (https://is.gd/YB71P8 ) that King County prosecutors say the 46-year-old Bothell man arrested Tuesday has been ordered held for investigation on $30,000 bond.

Police say the man called 911 from a pay phone outside an airport coffee shop and told the operator he had 8 to 10 pounds of homemade explosives taped to his chest. Then he hung up and waited for police.

No bomb was found.

Court papers show the man’s occupation is listed as fisherman. It was not clear why he thought federal prison was a good option.
