SEATTLE (AP) - The National Weather Service says a series of Pacific storms is once again bringing rain to Washington through Thursday - and with the rain comes an increased threat of mudslides and avalanches.
KOMO-TV reports that a mudslide in the Auburn area south of Seattle knocked a vacant rental house off its foundation.
In the Washington Cascades, U.S. Highway 2 across Stevens Pass was temporarily closed Wednesday by a natural snowslide followed by avalanche control.
The Weather Service says minor pasture land flooding is occurring along the Skokomish River while flood watches are in effect for much of the Puget Sound region.
From Wednesday afternoon through Thursday night, forecasters say another .5-to-1.5 inches of rain is likely in the Puget Sound region with 2-to-6 inches in the mountains. Recent heavy rainfall has soaked area soils.
Periods of heavy rain in Eastern Washington could cause minor farmland flooding.
After a break Friday, more rains are expected over the weekend and into next week.
