INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says four SWAT officers have been hurt in a shooting while serving a warrant.

Officer Kendale Adams told The Indianapolis Star that two officers have been released after treatment at hospitals and a third officer was checked by medical personnel at the scene of the shooting Wednesday night. He says a fourth officer also was being treated.

The nature of their injuries wasn’t clear.

The IMPD Twitter site sent out a message saying the officers had non-life-threatening injuries but a suspect was dead.

The names of the injured officers or the dead suspect weren’t immediate released.

Police Chief Rick Hite says the shooting occurred while officers were trying to serve a warrant at the residence of what he called a “known drug family.”
