Christian actress and “Full House” star Candace Cameron Bure took to her blog Friday to address the wide criticism she’s received since announcing her commitment to season 18 of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”
Mrs. Cameron Bure, who played D.J. Tanner from 1987 to 1995 in ABC’s hit series “Full House, is a 37-year-old married mother of three and sister to Christian actor Kirk Cameron.
“[A]s my FB page has been growing rapidly with new ’likes,’ it’s becoming a sensitive issue for me to post because of the dread in my heart knowing I am going to get discouraging comments,” she wrote. “[A]ll I see is a bunch of religious people throwing around bible verses attacking each other and bunch of non-religous [sic] people wondering why in the world they would ever want to be a part of this group?!”
The actress then gives a list of the contradictory things she has been criticized for, including being too religious, while not being “Godly enough,” and too conservative, while being too immodest.
“I’m not trying to please everyone,” she wrote, “I only have an audience of ONE. That’s God. And while I take the responsibility of role model seriously, I’m not perfect. I never will be. I’m a human being with faults and a sinful heart by nature.”
“My Facebook Page is for my fans. It’s a place to share with you what’s going on in my life,” she continued. “I wont ever stop being the real me to be an illusion of a better but fake Christian version of myself.”
Mrs. Cameron Bure currently has 540,000 Facebook fans and is making the media rounds to promote her book, “Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose.”
